Since the child care institotions were established in the latter part of the nineteenforties, main purposes of the care of the orphans had been to guarantee their food, clothing and housing. Nowadays the residents there consist of various kinds of children, such as brothers whose parents are missing, ill-treated infants, mentally retardeds, juvenile delinquents and students suffering from shool phobia. The principles and techniques regarding protective care are expected to cope with this new situation, but theactual state of. affairs can't be said having broken the convention. 2. Some suggestions both to child guidance centre, and child care institution. (1) Child guidance should make more detailed and substantial case records and send many sheets of the copies to the institution before the admission (at least five days in abvance) so that every worker may look over the case records carefully and establish elaborate programs for protective care. (2) As a training school for the future domestic man or woman, the institution is expected to make much more special efforts to teach the residents household affairs, home rules manners thoroughly in practice. In order to realize, greater results, so called "home stay training" would be very effective means. (3) To conquer the lack of spontaneity which has been pointed out as. a remarkable defect in the character of the residents,too many regulations and unsparing commands should be limited as few as possibile, while the residents are desirable to be. givien as many chances as possible to act of their own will. | |||||
