内容記述 | The purpose of this study is to examine the influence of regular walking up a hill upon general endurance of students in Miyazaki Women's Junior College. Training was running up and down the hill to the college at each subject's preferred speed. The length of the slope is 708 meters and the gradient is 7〜8%. The training effect was evaluated by measuring the change of physical condition, physical fitness, five minutes distance run, and maximum heart rate. A comparison was made between the data obtained in the first week and that obtained in the eighth week. The length of time taken to complete the run was measured every time; heart rate was measured 30 seconds before the subjects of the training group finished their training ; similarly, the length of time taken to walk up and down the hill was measured for the students who take the slope to go to school everyday, and the heart rate was measured 30 seconds before these subjects finished their walking. The subjects were 12 students who take the slope to go to school everyday, 24 students who live in the dormitory and don't have to take the slope everyday. Half of the students who don't walk up the slope normally did the training 3 days a week for eight weeks. The results were as follows ; the length of the running time of the training group has been significantly reduced, the points of the step test have gone up, and the general endurance has increased. This research shows that the hill which students usually take to go to school helps to improve the students' general endurance. | |||||
