内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 The study was designed to compare the physique and motor ability of kindergarten children and nursery school children, and to compare their personalities. Subjects were 179 children aged 3 to 6 years, whose height, weight and Kaup index were measured, and who were administered the motor fitness test and personality test. The results were as follows : 1) Height and weight simply increased with age in both boys and girls, but there were no significant differences between kindergarten and nursery school. There were sex differences in Kaup index, boys being superior to girls, but significant differences were not found between kindergarten and nursery school. 2) The motor ability developed with age in every exercise item, and there were manifest sexual differences in 25m run and soft ball throw, boys being significantly superior to girls. There were no significant differences in any items except standing long jump between kindergarten and nursery school. 3) In personality test, there were no significant differences concerning emotional stability and sociality between kindergarten and nursery school ; characteristic differences were not found. However, the differences of motor ability were related to personality differences, low ability children being significantly more emotional, more dependent, less social than the high and middle ability children. The results suggest that the differences of educational systems don't cause the differences of motor ability because the basic ability of the standing long jump is considered to be innate. The educational systems in early childhood don't much influence the development of motor ability and personality ; rather the environment in daily life, the home background and home education have more influence on it.
