内容記述タイプ Abstract
内容記述 To develop social skills in early childhood is neccessary for children because peer relations play an important role in the development of preschool children, just as they do in the development of school children. The purpose of this study was to develop children's social behavior and promote their adaptation to the school environment by applying social skills training. In an intermediate age class of kindergarten, 28 children were coached in social skills by the class teacher : verbally initiating to a peer (s), responding to another child's initiation, offering support to peers, and so on. Social assessments by sociometric test, personality test and behavioral observation were conducted three times during the training. Social skills training enhanced children's social interaction and enriched peer relationships. Moreover, children's personality changed in emotional and social aspects ; especially, exhibitionism and aggression were significantly reduced, and self-control was significantly promoted. The results are interpreted as support for the effectiveness of teacher intervention and the training effect of enhancing the adjustment to peer groups and school environment.
