内容記述 | Hearing parents of deaf children in two different countries, Italy and the United States, were studied regarding the positive aspects of raising a deaf child. Parents in each country were interviewed and observed in interactions with their children. They were also asked to complete journal entries describing their parenting experiences. The parents fell into three categories; Positive Parents, Struggling Parents, and Not So Positive Parents. Utilizing these categories, a conceptual framework was created to assist hearing parents of deaf children and the professionals working with them. Suggestions for switching categories were also discussed. | |||||
