This paper identifies some recent resistance from the TESOL profession to the challenges posed by certain CP issues, particularly in Japan. Several common forms of resistance to CP and identified, with reference to their attempts to invalidate or subdue the subversive function of CP by drawing from conflicting philosophical positions.
